Eastern Shore Rural Health System

Eastern Shore Rural Health System (ESRHS), a federally qualified health center, consists of five medical centers and four dental locations serving residents of the eastern shore of Virginia. ESRHS has a six-operatory dental clinic in Franktown; a seven-operatory dental clinic in Atlantic; and two school-based dental clinics in the Metompkin and Pungoteague Elementary Schools (two operatories in each site). We also have a dental outreach program that currently operates two days per week in several schools in our service area. ESRHS has been serving the Eastern Shore of Virginia since 1976. The organization provides care to over 28,000 unduplicated patients (34%, nearly 10,000, are under age 19). Given its remote geography, residents of the Eastern Shore have limited access to health care, even those with commercial insurance. ESRHS also provides care to migrant seasonal farmworkers. Interpretation/Translation is available, but students who are able to provide bilingual care might find this opportunity enjoyable.
