Mission
The mission of the Department of Dental Public Health and Policy embraces a commitment to socially responsible education, patient care, research, and the community in educating competent clinicians who will serve the needs of the public and improve the health and well-being of society.
The department of Dental Public Health and Policy consists of community-based dental education programs, such as service-learning and community service activities for dental and dental hygiene students. The school also cultivates community partnerships for improved access to oral health in urban and suburban areas.
Research
We conduct public health research aimed at advancing oral health equity in Virginia and beyond. We also place an emphasis on oral health policy and research at the community and population level.
